Losing 11-4 in the initial match on Thursday, April 27, on Field 1 in Palermo, Argentina, in the final match the USA put everything on the field. Maureen Brennan scored the first goal of the game followed by a goal from Kristy Outhier that gave the USA a 2-0 lead at the start of the second chukker. Argentina then began to equalize the game with strong teamwork tying the score 2-all in the third. A goal from Julia Smith* once again gave the USA a narrow lead, but it was quickly countered by Argentina. The teams went into halftime tied 3-all. A penalty 3 conversion by Tiffany Busch put the USA back on top in the fourth. The lead was short lived however, as Argentina answered with a goal of their own. After various successive ties, Argentina closed the game in the last two chukkers with three consecutive goals, one from the field by Paola Martinez, and two penalty conversions from Candelaria Fernández Araujo. The Argentines captured two victories against the USA to garner the Sunny Hale Tribute Cup 7-4.

“It was a very fun game and we were very proud of how we improved from the Thursday game and played as a team,” said Maureen Brennan. “We fought hard and we felt in control of most of the game, but we missed a few opportunities and then made a few mistakes at the end that turned the ball back over to them.”
