Following a nail-biting game played on Wednesday August 18, Mundo beat Talandracas 8-7, in a new qualifying round of the traditional Coupe d’Or, hosted by Deauville International Polo Club. The tournament, which has been played since 1950, is one of the most coveted trophies of the international calendar. This year’s edition sees six teams, up to 16 goals, playing for the title.
Mungo and Talandracas played a very balanced contest, with the exception of the first chukka, when Mungo outscored Talandracas 3-1. However, Talandracas managed to bounce back, and tied in the third chukka; Mungo re-took the lead in the fourth chukka, widening their advantage to two goals (8-6), with one chukka to go. Talandracas were able to make a last effort in those last minutes to produce one goal, but at the end of the day, luck was on Mungo’s side, who claimed their second win in the competition.
La final de la Coupe d’Or se jugará el domingo 29 de agosto.
