The Santa María Polo Club receives from this Friday 21 to Sunday July 23 the third edition of the Spanish Women’s Polo Championship, which will be played on the courts of Los Pinos and in which five teams participate: Club Marítimo, La Quinta, Iridike, El Albero and Noll / Chestertons. The tournament will bring together 20 national and international players, from eight different countries. Visitors can access for free.
The women’s pole is experiencing high growth and more and more clubs incorporate women’s competitions into their annual calendars. Santiago Torreguitar, Polo Manager of Santa María Polo Club, noted his satisfaction “to see the growing interest of players and sponsors in the tournament.” Joanna Mobley, founder of Polo Women, stated that “this year there will be many new faces,” and expressed her joy “for playing in the Los Pinos courts, which are among the best in the world.”
The first matches will be played this Friday 21 from 17.00. The competition will continue on Saturday 22 at the same time. On Sunday, the last meetings will be held from 11:00 p.m., and at 13.00 the final will be celebrated. All matches will be played to two chuckers, adding two points for a win and one for the draw.
This event, of great importance within the women’s pole, has been jointly organized by the Santa Maria Polo Club and Polo Women, led by the outstanding polo player Joanna Mobley. Thanks to this collaboration, the competition returns for the third consecutive year to the club’s fields, which will be attended by great polistas, such as Argentina’s Lia Salvo, one of the best in the world, who has taken part in the two previous editions of This championship. In addition, Eva Bruhl, Clara Cassino (Argentina), Rosie Ross (United Kingdom) and local pollsters Joanna Mobley, Alicia Gariador and Carla Álvarez will be among others.
Before the competition starts, this Thursday will be the presentation of the shirts from 20:00 hours at the Hotel Club Marítimo.
