The 79° Tortugas Country Club Open resumed on Wednesday with the second matchday. Two matches were played, both of them at private clubs. First up, Las Monjitas, runner-up of last year’s Argentine Open, scored a very solid debut win since they totally outplayed La Aguada and beat them 13 goals to 2. Later on, at Ellerstina, the locals defeated La Ensenada 17 to 6. Juan Gris Zavaleta made his debut for La Ensenada but unfortunately for him he couldn’t enjoy it properly. Both him and Nico Pieres had to be replaced in the third chukker after a hard hit.
As in 2018, Las Monjitas and Ellerstina will face each other in the semifinals of this competition on a game that is expected to be played next Monday.
If the weather allows it, the first matchday of Tortugas, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be completed on Thursday in Pilar. Cría Yatay is leading 5-1 against La Dolfina Polo Ranch mid way through the second chukker. Besides, it will also be the much awaited debut of defending champions La Dolfina against La Albertina Abu Dhabi.
