Action for the Terralpa Silver Cup continued on at Dos Lunas Polo & Dressage, with two medium goal games on Thursday, while Santa María Polo Club hosted high goal matches on Friday. Ayala and Marqués de Riscal (high goal), and John Smith and Cibao La Pampa (medium goal) remain undefeated with, after scoring two victories each. The tournament marks the second stage of the 50th Anniversary Torneo Internacional de Polo by La Reserva Club de Sotogrande.
With regards to medium goal games, the Red Ground at Dos Lunas saw Cibao La Pampa claim their second consecutive win, after beating Nairobi 12-8. The victory put them one step closer to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, in the high goal game held on ground Blue, Dos Lunas La Hacienda bounced back a 3-goal gap in the third chukka, to defeat BP Polo 12-11, in a clash that was very leveled and very tight until the last minute. The winners had Pablo Llorente filling in for the injured Martín Iturraspe.
On Friday, high temperatures obliged to delay the match between Ayala and BN Polo, due at 5,30pm at Santa María Polo Club. As a consequence, the two matches had to be played simultaneously. Ayala gave a great performance which led them to an impressive 10-5 win over BN Polo. It was the same for Marqués de Riscal, who demonstrated they are very serious contenders indeed, and claimed a comfortable win over Sainte Mesme by a 14-7 score.
The Terralpa Silver Cup continues on Thursday, August 5, with a high goal match and a medium goal match at Dos Lunas.
Sotogrande’s 50th anniversary tournament will be played at Ayala Polo Club, Santa María Polo Club, and Dos Lunas Polo & Dressage. The tournament sees twelve teams, split into two categories, compete. The high goal is for 18-20 goal teams, while the medium goal is for 12-14 goal teams.
