It’s about time! The most competitive polo season in the world is ready to go, the much anticipated Spring season in Argentina. Although it is still uncertain whether the San Jorge Open will be held on Saturday September 6, the 6oth. Jockey Club Open is due to kick off on Tuesday September 9, at the Jockey Club, in San Isidro, Province of Buenos Aires, and will see six teams between 28 and 33 goals, partake.
In addition, The prestigious tournament, that serves as the lead-up and preparation for the Triple Crown as well as the qualification is celebrating a special milestone – 60 years. The championship match of the 6oth. Jockey Club Open will take place on Saturday September 20.

As per the teams, here’s a preview about what to expect:
- La Hache: Current title holders, La Hache will field almost the same lineup as last year; Nachi Du Plessis will sub in for Tomás Panelo.
- Scone: Last year’s runner up and two-time champions (2022 & 2023), David Paradice’s organisation will feature David himself, Adolfo Cambiaso (who won this tournament eight times), Tomás Panelo and Lukin Monteverde.
- Pilot: Curtis Pilot’s team returns after a two-year absence. The lineup is made up of three winners of the last Argentine Open – Jeta and Barto Castagnola, and Facu Pieres. Pilot claimed the tournament for the last time in 2019 with Curtis Pilot and the three Pieres brothers.
- La Aguada: The 2003 winners of the Triple Crown will return to the Jockey Club Open, after last competing in 2022. The same lineup – Facundo Llosa, Felipe Vercellino, Pedro Zacharias, and the new addition, Kristos Magrini – will play the qualification tournament, that gives two spots for the Argentine Open.
- La Irenita: The Mac Donough family organisation will bring the same team, with the aim to qualify for Palermo. Winners of the Jockey Club Open in 2010, they will look to kick off the spring season on the right foot.
- Kazak: Sébastien Aguettant’s team will make their debut in San Isidro. The recent runner up of the Gold Cup in England will bring together two young talents —Beltrán Laulhé and Lorenzo Chavanne— alongside the experience of Polito Pieres and Juanma Nero, with the ambition of making a strong impact in Argentina.
