Final Qualifications for the Hurlingham and Argentine Opens
The last two games of the Torneo Clasificatorio 90 Años AAP were played on Monday 10 October at Palermo between Cría Yatay and Chapaleufú on Ground 1, whilst La Rosas and La Irenita played on Ground 2. The games produced the final two teams for the tournament to qualify for a place in the Hurlingham and Argentine Open tournaments.
La Irenita had a free-flowing and fast game with a successful result defeating Las Rosas 13-8 despite a rocky start as Brazilian Joao Paulo Ganon racked up a couple of quick goals in the first few minutes. Matías MacDonough and Juan Ruiz Guiñazú drove the play on in their favour for the rest of the game to finish with a five goal advantage to their team La Irenita.
Cría Yatay qualified for the Hurlingham and Argentine Open on points and goal differences over the course of the tournament despite losing to Chapaleufú. In their game on Ground 1, it was Joaquin Pittaluga who won the day for Cría Yatay. He scored a 60 yard penalty in the closing minutes to close the gap in the scores to take their qualification. Eduardo Heguy’s Chapaleufú team had a tough ride, they needed to win with a margin of two goals, which despite all their efforts they failed to produce finishing the game 12-11.
The Hurlingham Open will begin on Tuesday 18 October and the Finals are scheduled for Saturday 5 November.
