Palm City Polo Captures 2016 Women's Championship Tournament Title

palmPalm City Polo won the 2016 Women’s Championship Tournament (WCT) title, defeating Scribble Horse Polo 5-4½ on April 16 at Grand Champions Polo Club. The only women’s polo event of its kind and the largest polo league in the world, the WCT Finals has attracted players from throughout the U.S. and internationally. Jaqui Casey, daughter of Palm City Polo Club owner Joey Casey, was a member of the winning team that included Hope Arellano, Tiffany Busch and Meli Galindo.

“I am very proud and happy for Jaqui and all of the team members,” said Joey Casey.

Palm City Polo exhibited excellent offense and defense, leading for most of the game. Scribble Horse Polo had the lead at one point in the third chukker, but in the fourth and final chukker Busch scored from the field and on a penalty 2 to give her four goals for the day and put Palm City back on top 5-3½. Courtney Asdourian scored once more for Scribble Horse for a four-goal game total, but the clock ran out, giving Palm City Polo the win and the title.

“Jaqui had an exciting day Saturday. She was also a member of the Sapphires team who won the WCT Junior Invitational,” said Casey. The Junior Invitational tournament features junior girls polo players ages 10-17. The Sapphires team (which included Riley Ganzi, Jennifer Pascarelli and Jennifer Williams) was coached by the legendary Sunny Hale.
