The Super Sunday of polo kicked off with the Camara de Diputados Cup, with the first of three finals.
Favourites (due to handicap) Pilara EN and La Mancha Amadeus, composed of four young, upcoming players, went head to head Palermo’s number two ground. Julio Novillo Astrada replaced the injured Agustin Garcia Grossi for Pilara throughout the tournament, while Martincito Aguerre replaced the injured Gaston Maiquez for La Mancha.
The final result was surprising due to the four goal handicap difference, but La Mancha played at a consistently high level and made the final a truly unforgettable game. La Mancha’s Bautista Bayugar really stood out, being solid in attack and dictating many impressive plays.
La Mancha now face a play-off against La Ensenada on Wednesday, in Palermo, for a place in the 2019 Hurlingham and Palermo Opens.
