CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Cornell men’s and women’s polo programs wrapped up an exciting weekend of polo on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the 2019 Virginia Polo Fall Invitational.
Cornell’s women’s polo team reach the championship on Sunday afternoon following a 9-6 win over reigning national champion Texas A&M on Friday. With a win, Cornell avenged a 10-2 loss to the Aggies at last years invitational. Facing host Virginia in the finals, the Big Red were defeated, 19-9, in a hard fought game. Cornell women’s polo returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 for a 7:00 p.m. game against Michigan at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
The Cornell men’s polo team fell in both games over the weekend, dropping game one to Southern Methodist, 16-8. In the consolation match on Saturday, Cornell was narrowly defeated by Kentucky by a final score of 14-10. Cornell men’s polo will also play in Oxley this week, facing Gardnertown Polo Club on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m.
