The annual all-ladies polo tournament is back for the 11th time, promising a Saturday of fun for a good cause.
Keen followers of Thailand’s Polo season would already have plans to visit Pattaya this weekend, as B.Grimm Group and BMW co-host the Queen’s Cup Pink Polo 2019. Taking place on Saturday February 16, at the Thai Polo and Equestrian Club Pattaya, this marks the eleventh return of the annual tournament. While the pink theme and all-ladies ensemble make for a unmissable affair, the Pink Polo holds special significance for its charitable cause. This year, all proceeds from the event will be donated to The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation, aimed towards supporting women in their fight against Breast Cancer, as well as raising awareness of the importance of breast cancer screening.
What makes this year’s Queen’s Club Pink Polo 2019 different?
This year, a press conference was held for the event — marking a first for the annual Pink Polo, as well as another step towards raising further awareness of the issue of breast cancer in Thailand.
During the press conference, which was held at the new flagship store of leading polo clothing brand U.S. Polo Assn., president of B.Grimm Group Caroline Link revealed the teams we can look forward to watching this year. As expected of the global affair, this year features an international ensemble of teams, including Team La Familia/Marengo from Malaysia, Switzerland’s Team San Eugenio, Team 1003 Polo from China and, of course, Thailand’s very own Team Thai Polo.
What else is there to look forward to?
While the main highlight of the event are undoubtedly the heated matches between the participating teams, the Pink Polo is also known for providing spectators with a fun and eventful Saturday. This year, those in attendance can look forward to not only the ladies polo competition, but also the ever-popular flea market, lampang horse carriages and a horseback fashion show by leading celebrities and youth horse riders. Dog lovers have plenty of reason to attend too, as there will also be a Fancy Dog fashion show by the Yorkshire Terrier Club Thailand.
Whether you’re an avid equestrian enthusiast, or are simply piqued by the idea of a fun — and simultaneously charitable — Saturday, the Queen’s Cup Polo 2019 should definitely be on your agenda this week. Donations of THB1,000 gets you a wristband, covering lunch and drinks during the event, along with a Pink Polo limited edition bag.
