A polo player well known in The Villages raced to another top finish at Saturday’s Running of the Squares 5K at Brownwood Paddock Square.

Nick Johnson, 29, was the first racer across the finish line, with a time of 18 minutes and nine seconds.

That was one second better than last year when Johnson was also the top finisher at Brownwood. And this past April, the English-born polo player ran an outstanding 17 minutes and seven seconds to claim victory at the Spanish Springs Town Square edition of the Running of the Squares 5K.

Villages High School student Katherine Probola was the first female across the finish line in a time of 23 minutes and 34 seconds. The 13-year-old from Oxford was the 16th overall runner to cross the finish line.

A total of 526 runners participated in Saturday’s event.
