The first of its kind at the event, this charity polo match benefits groups that take care of local animals. The winner will receive $10,000 towards their charity.
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.)– On Saturday, November 2nd, WestWorld of Scottsdale will be the Polo center of the world for excited fans and for competitive players testing their skill and finesse. But for the final match, something much more important than bragging rights is on the line: $10,000 towards charity sponsored by EPR Polo.
This year the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships welcomes an event first, a charity match benefiting local animal groups of Arizona. The two charities involved are Southwest Wildlife and Arizona Equine Rescue, charities that focus their efforts on rescuing local animals, and educating people on how to treat animals, as well as how they can help rescue efforts in their communities.
Arizona Equine Rescue supports children’s programs with volunteer efforts focused around after school mentorships. They also conduct large animal rescue training for both first responders and local community members looking to help.
The team at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center rescues native wildlife in situations of injury, a loss of their homes due to development, orphaned or abandoned, etc. They even have an animal sanctuary for those who will not be able to live out the rest of their lives in the wild.
“We are proud to be able to play in this event, but even prouder that we get to play to support this cause that is so important to us. We’re playing to save animals, and no matter who takes the victory, the animals in need will win,” said Soleil Dolce of AZ Equine Rescue.
The Charity match begins at 4:30 p.m. and concludes an afternoon of polo matches and events happening at the World’s Greatest Polo Party. Enjoy other Polo Party festivities including fashion shows, rugby matches, VIP Tents and cultural and musical performances. Gates open at 10:00 a.m.
