Victory Cup to be contested at Springfest Park

McALLEN – What has become known as “America’s Polo Match,” the Victory Cup will be contested at Springfest Park.

Located on South 23rd Street (just south of the airport) the event will feature hot air balloons, polo, fashion and food.

Now in their 14th year, the networking and social event will make their way to Rio Grande Valley in hopes to promote polo.

“We’re the best attended polo matches in the United States and we work to pull in more people to this sport,” event organizer Greg Ball said. “Great athletes on the horses as well as the horses themselves.”

At day break, weather permitting, there will be a hot air balloon launch. The first polo match will take place at 11 a.m. which will also be for those with Golden Mallet VIP and Founder’s Lounge Passholders. The VIP portion of the event will include live music, a hospitality alcohol tasting tent, a battle of the chefs tasting competition and a kids play area for all passholders.

Founder’s Lounge passholders will have access to a farm to table dinner on the polo field.

General Admission and VIP Passes include the hot air balloon portion of the event starting at sunrise.

The Victory Cup is contested in 12 cities throughout the United States including New York City, Dallas and Nashville to name a few.

Fashion will be a part of the event as attendees are encouraged to accessorize but also wear flat shoes.

Those with access will be able to participate in the famed divot stomp to help repair the field.
