It’s Polo Tournament Season at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club

They’re playing a polo season at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.

Last week, Dundas 2 won the season-opening Kopu Cup, beating Klentner Ranch, 16-11.

Cable Magness of Dundas 2, who is just 15, was named the tournament MVP. The Best Playing Pony was awarded to Dundas 2’s Geronimo Obregon’s grey gelding, Samurai.

“I brought him three years ago from Argentina,” said Obregon. “He’s 12 years old, one of my best, most consistent horses — he’s super quick to turn and accelerate and I feel very confident on him. I am also super excited and honored to play for Dundas Polo and thrilled that we had such great success this first tournament in the 12 goal.”

On Sunday, four games of the eight-team Folded Hills Pope Challenge were played. Dundas 1 beat Lucchese/BFBSTLAW, 14-6; Dundas 2 defeated bensoleimani.com, 10-9, in overtime; Antelope edged FMB Too!/Sapa, 10-9, and Antelope Jr. beat Klentner Ranch, 10-3.

The tournament continues Friday. The games begin at 10 a.m. with Estrellas Dundas I facing Antelope Junior; SBPRC FMB Too!/ Sapa plays BenSoleimani.com at noon; SBPRC Klentner Ranch takes on Lucchese/BFBSTLAW at 2 p.m., and Estrellas Dundas II meets Antelope at 4 p.m.
