LAHORE – Remington Pharma qualified for the main final and Guard Group booked berth in the subsidiary final of the Christmas Polo Cup 2021 after winning their respective matches here at Lahore Polo Club ground on Thursday.
The first match of the day was played among three teams including Guard Group, Diamond Paints and ZS Polo under American system. Guard Group won both of their matches to qualify for the subsidiary final. First they played their two-chukker match against Diamond Paints. Guard Group were off to a flying start and dominated the match till the end and won it with a good margin of 4½-2.
Guard Group then played their second match against ZS Polo. They once again maintained their supremacy right from the word go and recorded an impressive 4-1 triumph over ZS Polo. The third two-chukker match of the day was contested between ZS Polo and Diamond Paints. Both the teams gave tough time to each other and after a tough competition; ZS Polo managed to register a thrilling 2½-2 victory over Diamond Paints.
On the other hand, Remington Pharma defeated Crescent Digital Prints by a narrow margin of 7-6 in the first semifinal of the tournament. Agha brothers – Agha Musa Ali Khan, Agha Hashim and Agha Adam – along with Basel Faisal Khokhar played superb polo and guided Remington Pharma to a well-deserving victory. Agha Musa Ali Khan displayed high-quality polo skills and techniques to emerge as hero of the day. He fired in five fantastic goals from the winning team while the remaining goals came from Agha Hashim and Agha Adam, who contributed one goal apiece.
From the losing side, all the players though played well and matched fire-with-fire till the end, yet they couldn’t finish the match well and lost it by 6-7. Raja Arslan Najeeb was good with horse and mallet and pumped in four goals while Mohsin Atta Khan Khosa and Bilal Noon contributed with one goal each. Tomorrow (Friday), two important matches will be played here at the Lahore Polo Club ground.
