LAHORE: BN Polo qualified for the main final while Barry’s reached the subsidiary final of the Pantera Energy Aibak Polo Cup after winning their respective matches here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Friday.
Eulogio Celestino’s impressive six-goal effort helped BN Polo earn a narrow 7-6 victory against Master Paints. Celestino’s team-mate Raja Mikail Sami chipped in with one goal.
For Master Paints, Marcos Panelo recorded a hat-trick, Farooq Amin Sufi scored a brace while and Juan Cruz Losada scored one.
The winners led the first chukker 3-1 after trailing 0-1. In the second chukker it was 3-3 as the losing side pumped in two goals.
The nail-biting encounter continued during the third chukker as the scoreline read 6-6 with both teams scoring three goals each before Eulogio hit the winner in the fourth chukker.
Earlier the match between Barry’s and DS Polo/ASC remained a one-sided affair as Barry’s comfortably won the encounter 9-3½ to make the subsidiary final.
Ernesto Trotz slammed four goals for the winners while Santiago Gomes Romero and Nafees Barry banged in two each and Syed Turab Rizvi converted one.
For DS Polo/ASC, which had a half-goal handicap advantage, Hissam Ali Hyder, Lt Col Omer Minhas and Ahmed Bilal Riaz scored one goal each.
