The American polo season has just came to an end, following the championship match of the most significant tournament in the United States, the US Open Polo Championship, that saw Pilot as champions for the second time, the first being in 2019. Following a few days of rest, polo players will are set to split to different venues within the much anticipated season in Europe; and England is among the destinations, having the season kicked off in late April.
Several teams have been appointed to play the 22-goal competitions. Those are due to start with the Prince of Wales Trophy, at Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, alongside the Trippetts Challenge, at Cowdray Park Polo Club; coming up next is the Queen’s Cup, at Guards Polo Club, while Cirencester Park Polo Club will host the traditional Warwickshire Cup; the culminating moment of the season is the Gold Cup for the British Open, at Cowdray Park Polo Club, and last but not least, the 22-goal circuit will close with the POW’s Championship, at Guards. At the same time, Guards Polo Club will host a new edition of the 26-goal Coronation Cup, an event that goes far and beyond the maximum handicap level in the country, and will see the clash of England and Uruguay.
In addtion of the always attractive 22-goal tournaments, England will provide the best polo on many levels of play, through tournaments hosted by many clubs. The Duke of Sutherland Cup (Cowdray Park Polo Club), British Ladies Open Championship (Cowdray Park Polo Club), The Queen Mother’s Centenary Trophy (Guards Polo Club), Royal Windsor Cup (Guards Polo Club), Archie David Cup (Guards Polo Club), Eduardo Moore Tournament (Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club) and the Indian Empire Shield (Coworth Park Polo Club), are among the most important competitions to be played on British soil thoroghout the upcoming months.
As was confirmed by PoloLine on an article dated March 24 a total of 10 teams will play the Prince of Wales Trophy, while more teams are expected to join within the 22-goal tournaments.
