Twelve Oaks claimed a tight 10-9 win over Great Oaks Les Lions in extra chukka, and captured the Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy the opening tournament of the 22-goal season in England, and hosted by the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, following a thrilling championship match, played on Saturday May 14. It was indeed an amazing success for Charlie Wooldrige’s foursome, in their first ever season within British high goal.
The much anticipated final had a better start for Dillon Bacon’s team, or at least in the two first chukkas. By the end of the second chukka, they had a 5-2 lead. But things would change from the third chukka onwards, when Twelve Oaks found their best form and closed the gap to just one goal in the two following chukkas, until they managed to reach a 9-all in the sixth and last episode, which forced an extra chukka. Within three and a half minutes into OT, a a 60-yards penalty awarded to Twelve Oaks and was successfully converted by Joaquín Pittaluga, to secure the title for Twelve Oaks in order to seal a fantastic debut for the team in their first time at British high goal.
The 2022 edition of the Justerini & Brook Prince of Wales Trophy saw ten teams, up to 22 goals, compete for the title.
