OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma’s first Polo on the River event will trot into Oklahoma City on Saturday and Sunday.
According to a release, the two-day event will be the first installment in a three-weekend series to continue through Nov. 18-19.
It’ll take place a few blocks from downtown OKC in Stockyards City. The action will be centered around 800 S. Agnew in River Park and will coincide with the Stockyards Stampede Oct. 15.
“It’s the perfect location for several reasons,” said Kelly Coldiron, organizer of Polo on the River and an avid polo player. “We have a beautiful downtown Oklahoma City skyline and the Oklahoma River as the backdrop. Also, the history of the stockyards and this sport are built upon the importance and relationship between rider and horse. We’ll have food trucks, fun games for kids, and a full-service beer trailer with twenty taps and full-service bar to purchase any refreshment you may need. I don’t know of any place in the country where you can have this much fun for five bucks.”
Gates for the inaugural Polo on The River will open at 10 a.m. Opening ceremonies will be at 2:30 p.m. and the main event polo match will begin at 3 p.m. Festivities finish with live music until 7:30 p.m.
