Sandpolo takes place at Sandbanks in July 2022

Final touches are being put to the popular Sandpolo event at Sandbanks.

Organisers and polo players met at Sandbanks last week to put the finishing touches to 2022’s British Beach Polo Championships.

The sand and pony fitness on the beach was tested, as well as talk team tactics completed.

This year the Championships, otherwise known as Sandpolo, celebrates the 15th anniversary with a spectacular weekend where 6,000 people are expected to attend.

Guests will be able to watch fast-paced professional polo, played in a beach arena, while enjoying a glass of rosé or champagne and delicious food.

From 7pm each evening, beach parties commence, with world class entertainment taking to the stage and the renowned vista of the Jurassic Coast as the perfect backdrop.

The entertainment off the polo pitch will see Friday’s ‘Boogie on the Beach’, consist of a soul, motown and disco concept event, act The Real Thing, while Saturday’s Sandpolo weekend closing party welcomes the 14-piece Ibiza Classics Orchestra to the stage, aloingside Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B, and an array of bands and DJ’s.

Johnny Wheeler, Sandpolo founder says: “With around five weeks to go we are confident the planning is as good as ever, the teams are well prepared and ticket sales have never been stronger.

“What’s great about the weekend is that it’s a special event for everyone, an excuse to dress up and let your hair down.

“This year we are back, bigger and bolder, with some incredible artists booked for the parties, and the polo players are raring to compete in front of the eager spectators. We have a wonderful local following, but there are also plenty who travel to Dorset to attend each year. It’s contagious!”

Alongside various VIP areas, guests with general admission tickets benefit from entry to Sandpolo from 1pm-1am, ringside views of the polo, access to the main party marquee, bars, and food village, casual seating, and the after-parties.
