USPA Gold Cup: Pilot and Park Place qualify to the finals

Pilot and Park Place will play the championship match of the USPA Gold Cup, the second leg of The Gauntlet of Polo, following their wins in semifinals agains Tamera and Scone, respectively, on Thursday March 24, at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

While Joshua Hyde still fills in for Park Place’s Andrey Borodin, Scone made two changes within their lineup – in the Adolfo Cambiaso was subbed in by his nephew, Bartolomé Castagnola, in the second chukka, due to a torn riding muscle, and Miguel Novillo Astrada Jr. replaced David Paradice.

The USPA Gold Cup sees thirteen teams, up to 22 goals, compete. The final will be played on Sunday, March 27.

USPA Gold Cup – SEMIFINALS – THURSDAY MARCH 24

SEMIFINAL# 1 – PILOT 13-8 TAMERA 

Pilot: Curtis Pilot 0 (2 goals), Mackenzie Weisz 5 (4), Matías Torres Zavaleta 7 (3), Facundo Pieres 10 (4). Total: 22.

Tamera: Alejandro Poma 1 (3 goals), Segundo Saravi 4 (2), Diego Cavanagh 9 (3), Cristian Laprida 8 (1). Total: 22.

Score Pilot: 3-1, 7-2, 7-4, 10-5, 11-7, 13-8.

SEMIFINAL #2 – PARK PLACE 16-14 SCONE

Scone: David Paradice 0*, Keko Magrini 3 (2 goals), Poroto Cambiaso 9 (11) Adolfo Cambiaso 10**. Total: 21.

Park Place: Josh Hyde 1, Juan Britos 9 (4 goals),  Hilario Ulloa 10 (8), Cody Ellis 4 (3). Total: 22.

Score Park Place: 2-3, 4-5, 8-8, 12-9, 14-11, 16-14.

*Subbed in by Miguel Novillo Astrada Jr.

** Subbed in by Bartolomé Castagnola Jr. in the second chukka, due to an injury.

Park Place, who will search for their second title in the 2022 Gauntlet of Polo, will clash against Pilot in the final, on Sunday March 27, at 3pm.
