GOOD AS GOLD: BRITISH OPEN POLO CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE COWDRAY GOLD CUP UNDERWAY – AN ARTICLE BY CLICKPOLOUSA

Running from June 27 to July 23, the prestigious British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club (Midhurst, United Kingdom) is officially underway. Considered one the most prestigious tournaments in the United Kingdom alongside the Cartier Queen’s Cup hosted by Guards Polo Club, fifteen teams will battle for the coveted Gold Cup.

Fresh off the Cartier Queen’s Cup, recently crowned champions Murus Sanctus will seek their second consecutive high-goal title of the U.K. season under the new moniker Talandracas, with the addition of Edouard Carmignac in place of Corrine Ricard.

Green Gates will make their 22-goal debut following their success at the 18-goal level in the Hurlingham Polo Association’s 2022 Victor Ludorum Series.

Each representing the esteemed Park Place organization, the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup will feature two 10-goalers in Facundo Pieres (Park Place) and Hilario Ulloa (Park Place Vaara).

Featuring twenty-six Gauntlet of Polo alumni, the competition heats up as the tournament enters its third week of league play on Monday, July 10, with quarterfinal action slated to begin Saturday, July 15. Park Place, UAE and King Power currently sit atop League A tied with 2-1 records. Dubai leads League B and remains the only undefeated team in the competition at 3-0, while Marques de Riscal occupies the top of spot in League C with a commanding 3-1 record.
