The QUEEN’S CUP: Last qualification leg kicked off

The final leg of the qualification stage of the Queen’s Cup, Guards Polo Club’s premier tournament, started on Monday June 5. Scone and UAE Polo were victorious in their games against Black Bears and Park Place Vaara, respectively.  The tournament hosted by the club set in Windsor Great Park, England sees seventeen teams up to 22 goals, in participation.

Scone recovered from their loss against UAE Polo on June 2, and earned an impressive 13-8 win over Black Bears. Up next, UAE Polo secured their ticket to quarter finals, after claiming a narrow 8-7 over Park Place Vaara.

MONDAY JUNE 5

MATCH #1: SCONE 13-8 BLACK BEARS  (The Queen’s Ground)

SCONE: David Paradice 0, Adolfo Cambiaso 9 (1 goal), Poroto Cambiaso 9 (8), Matías González 4 (4). Total: 22.

BLACK BEARS: Guy Schwarzenbach 2, Ollie Cudmore 6 (1 goal), Antonio Heguy 5 (1), Juan Martín Nero 9 (6). Total: 22.

Score Scone: 1-3, 4-3, 9-4, 9-6, 12-7, 13-8.

PARTIDO # 2: UAE POLO 8-7 PARK PLACE VAARA (The Duke’s Ground)

UAE Polo: Sheikha Maitha Al Maktoum 0, Lukin Monteverde 6 (2 goals), Barto Castagnola 9 (5), Tommy Beresford 7 (1). Total: 22.

PARK PLACE VAARA: Varvara Borodin 0 (2 goals), Hilario Ulloa 10 (5), Mín Podestá 7, Santos Merlos 6. Total: 22.

Score UAE Polo:  1-1, 2-3, 5-4, 6-5, 7-6, 8-7.

The two remaining matchdates of the Queen’s Cup, prior to the quarter finals, due on Saturday June 10 and Sunday June 11, will take place on Tuesday June 6 and Wednesday June 7. The schedule is as follows:

3pm: Dubai vs. Monterosso (The Prince’s Ground)

WEDNESDAY JUNE 7

11am: La Magdeleine vs. King Power

1,30pm: Vikings vs. BP Polo

4pm: Cibao La Pampa vs. Twelve Oaks

The final of The Queen’s Cup is set to be played on Sunday June 18.
