USPA Gold Cup continues in full swing

Action for the USPA Gold Cup, the second leg of the prestigious The Gauntlet of Polo, resumed on Monday March 6 and Tuesday March 7. The tournament is currently underway at t the brand new USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida. Thirteen teams, up to 22 goals, are in competition. Lineups are split into five leagues.

Monday March 6 saw Valiente’s successful debut in the contest, after taking a 11-6 victory over Dutta Corp Show+. Double action followed on Tuesday March 7 – a merciless Scone (received one goal on handicap) swept Two Trees by Jefferies to claim an impressive 18-4 win, while Shack Attack defeated Tamera 12-9.

The USPA Gold Cup was established in 1974, and was played at Oak Brook Polo Club, in Oak Brooks, Illinois, before moving to Milwaukee Polo Club, in Hartland, Wisconsin from 1975-1978. In 1979, it landed in Florida. Like the CV Whitney Cup, the USPA Gold Cup will be entirely played at the at the brand new USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida.

The USPA Gold Cup is due to resume on Wednesday March 8 and Thursday March 9, and the schedule is the following:

  • Wednesday March 8:

12pm: Aspen vs. Pilot

  • Thursday March 9:

1pm: La Elina vs. Valiente

5pm: La Fe vs. Park Place

The final of the USPA Gold Cup is set to be played on Sunday, March 26.
