Coupe d’Or: Talandracas made history

And it’s a wrap! The 2024 Barriere Deauville Polo Cup came to an end on Sunday August 25, with the much anticipated championship match of the series most signficant tournament, the Coupe d’Or, that took place at the Deauville International Polo Club, set in Deauville, in Normandy, France. A final that saw Talandracas making history, not only because they defeated the title holders, Télédou-Barriere by an impressive 14-7 score, but they also earned a significant achievement – Talandracas claimed no less than their seventh Coupe d’Or in Deauville, marking a remarkable record most likely very difficult to be repeated again. It was indeed a great year for the Carmignac’s organisation; they won the Queen’s Cup, last June and were semifinalists of the British Open

Talandracas commanded the match thoroghout the five chukkas of play. They won the first chukka 5-0 and extended their advantage to 6-2 in the second, led by their flagship man, Juan Martín Zubía, who delivered a fantastic performance and was the top scorer of the match – he produced eleven goals. Although Télédou Barriere struggled to get closer in the score, led by Juan Gris Zavaleta, they were literally overwhelmed by Edouard Carmignac & Co. The deal was said and done in the penultimate chukka; in the last chukka, Talandracas outscored Télédou-Barriere 4-2, to grab the 14-7 victory that secured them a significant place in the history of the Coupe d’Or.
