McFaddin polo match to benefit Victoria’s Nave Museum this Saturday

Picture it. It’s a beautiful, temperate spring day. There are acres of sprawling fields and pecan trees that serve as the backdrop for a polo match. Live music is being played by the Whiskey Poets, and people are tailgating, cooking all types of delicious food from barbecue to fish.

The Nave Museum’s Polo at McFaddin fundraiser is a great way to spend the weekend with beer or wine at hand to watch the match between professional players from all over the world.

“There’s nothing like this in the area,” says Amy Hicks, executive director for the Nave Museum. Five hundred people are expected to attend the polo match, which is played by professionals from all over the world.

The Nave Museum’s 43rd annual polo match fundraiser will be held April 6 at the beautiful and historic McFaddin Ranch. The fundraiser will benefit the Nave Museum’s expansive operations with a silent auction held during the entire event and a live auction after the polo match. The silent auction will feature a wide variety of items, such as a private bourbon tasting and a painting by artist Tracey Waldroup.

As of Wednesday, there was still time to attend this beautiful countryside escape this weekend. Tickets may be purchased by phone, online at navemuseum.org/events/polo-at-mcfaddin-2024tinyurl.com/mr3henrr or the gate. Tickets are $125 for adults and $25 for children. Gates open at noon, and the polo match will start at 2 p.m.

The dress code is polo casual. For ladies, this can be anything from a beautiful springtime dress with matching fascinators or just casual attire with a pair of favorite boots. Stiletto heels are not recommended because the event takes place on a ranch. For men, anything from seersucker suits to khakis with a button-down, either will do. Linen may be a popular choice as it might be humid the day of the event.

Bring a hat and gloves or just a love for art and polo this weekend to support the Nave Museum at this fun and unique fundraiser.
