Women’s Polo Wins Division II Northeast Regional

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women’s polo team won the Divison II Northeast Regional tournament on Sunday afternoon, beating UConn 21-6 at the Oxley Equestrian Center. Cornell (10-4) has won six straight games to start the second half of the season.

“This is a fantastic achievement for this program and this team,” Anthony Condo, the Peter B. Orthwein ’68 Head Coach of Polo, said. “Since the COVID shutdown and a second major coaching change shortly after, the team had been struggling somewhat to find its true identity.

“We are just starting to hit our stride, and I think this bodes well for Nationals in April.”

Lara ChongCharlotte BookIsabelle Braden and Ava Ramachandran led the scoring attack for the Big Red, which has scored more than 20 points in three games since resuming the season in late January. The Big Red has outscored its opponents 128-21 during this winning streak.

Cornell has beaten UConn twice this spring, with the first victory being a 17-2 win at the Oxley Equestrian Center earlier this month.
